Raise Your Vibration

The suggestions in this video are so simple - sort of. Most of us involved in metaphysics have heard them before, but do we consistently practice them?

I have been going through some very extreme changes spiritually over the past few months, good changes, changes that are making a difference in my life. Sometimes, these changes are hard, they make me work on myself, they make me look at things I would rather just walk by without a glance. Of course, the Goddesses and Gods rarely take no for an answer, we are given tasks to prove ourselves, to test us, to help us elevate ourselves spiritually. And this spiritual elevation... or whatever one would like to call it, makes life better.

Take a look at this video, stop it and jot down the suggestions, then have at it. Simple?

Hungarian Candle Blessing of Happy Women

Today is the day of the Hungarian Candle Blessing of Happy Women. I am not sure what the exact origin of this blessing day is. It could be related to Candlemas, but I can't find any definitive evidence for that. I originally found it on various Goddess/Feminist calendars some years ago and loved the sound of it. Since I don't follow a Celtic path, Imbolc is not really something I celebrate. My own version is The Stirring of the Seed, the very beginnings of changes in Mother Earth, preparing for Spring, but that is a very different thing.

This Blessing of Happy Women, for me, is a day to honor women and send blessings for their protection and happiness, for all women to know that they are beautiful, worthy of love, and powerful, and that they may be safe in a world that does not always appreciate a women's strength and sacredness.

Very simple - light a candle for yourself and all women, all over the world and say a prayer that we may be happy and protected, raising our power to encompass the whole of our Mother Earth. How beautiful!

Snake Goddess a Mystery - Is It Demeter?

Two posts in one day, but it is a busy news day for those who are dedicated to the Goddesses. Here is an article about findings from 1932 and this unusual representation of a "snake goddess" which was not common to Athens. She may possibly, according to one researcher be Demeter and a votive offering. The article isn't very complete, but perhaps there is more information to be found if I have time to search. The idea of Demeter and snakes is not one I am familiar with. Considering my own practice, which includes the snake, and my dedication to Demeter, I have something interesting to look in to.

If anyone has any information about Demeter and snakes, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Vestal Virgin's Hair Style

Here is a really interesting video about how the Vestal Virgins wore their hair and their hair coverings, along with instructions for recreation of the style including the hair covering. I enjoyed it very much. Many thanks to Allyson for posting the link on Facebook!
