Autumn Equinox Blessings

 Autumn Equinox Blessings.

A Spell For Peace & Happiness

A little magick for your home is a good practice. While browsing through my Book of Soells, I found this. All the items needed are common kitchen herbs and spices. The others items needed are easily found and you may very well have them in your home.

I have cast this spell many times over the years and suggested its use by others with much success. Everyone can use a little extra peace and happiness in the home, don’t you think?

A Spell For Peace And Happiness In The Home

Perform this spell after the first crescent of the new moon appears. Energetically cleanse your home in whatever manner you usually do.

You will need;

an orange or Happy Home* candle

lavender buds, rose petals, wood betony, Rosemary, cumin seeds and cinnamon.

three drops each of bergamot, clove and vanilla oils (a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract may be used instead of vanilla oil) plus a touch extra for candle anointing.

Matches or lighter

A pink, lavender colored, or white pouch

Candle holder

A bit of glitter if you have some

Some rose quartz piece to surround your candle and pouch.

Mix herbs and oils together well and enchant in the usual manner. Place the mixture into a  small pouch. Keep this with the candle as it burns. You will then place it in a closet, cupboard, or somewhere around the home, hidden from view.

If you are using a plain orange candle, anoint with a touch of each oil, and sprinkle with a tiny pinch of glitter, enchanting for purpose If using the Happy Home candle, you may anoint with a bit of oil and add some glitter, then awaken and ask for the candle’s assistance for your purpose.

Place the candle in its hold, pouch nearby, and surround with pieces of rose quartz.

Burn the candle for three hours each evening until it is completely consumed. Chant this charm three times after lighting:

Peace and happiness fill our place,                                All is well in our family’s space!

Any candle remnants may be added to you pouch.

(Both Crystal Journey and Coventry Candles make lovely Happy Home candles)

Cleansing Prayer

Wrote this Tuesday morning and thought I’d share. Beautiful blessings dark and deep.

Cleansing Prayer

Smoke and fire, Earth and air,
Cleanse and bless this home with care.
In the Lady’s name I make it so,
All harm and bane released must go.
By the Lady Mother that I revere,
Only good now enters here.
With gratitude I freely send
To my Lady without end.

You Are Becoming You

I took a bit of poetic license with this so I would be talking to the Goddess.

Me: Hey Goddess.

Goddess : Hello.....

Me: I'm falling apart. Can you put me back together?

Goddess: I would rather not.

Me: Why?

God: Because you aren't a puzzle.

Me: What about all of the pieces of my life that are falling down onto the ground?

Goddess : Let them stay there for a while. They fell off for a reason. Take some time and decide if you need any of those pieces back.

Me: You don't understand! I'm breaking down!

Goddess : No - you don't understand. You are breaking through. What you are feeling are just growing pains. You are shedding the things and the people in your life that are holding you back. You aren't falling apart. You are falling into place. Relax. Take some deep breaths and allow those things you don't need anymore to fall off of you. Quit holding onto the pieces that don't fit you anymore. Let them fall off. Let them go.

Me: Once I start doing that, what will be left of me?

Goddess : Only the very best pieces of you.

Me: I'm scared of changing.

Goddess : I keep telling you - YOU AREN'T CHANGING!! YOU ARE BECOMING!

Me: Becoming who?

Goddess : Becoming who I created you to be! A person of light and love and charity and hope and courage and joy and mercy and grace and compassion. I made you for more than the shallow pieces you have decided to adorn yourself with that you cling to with such greed and fear. Let those things fall off of you. I love you! Don't change! ... Become! Become! Become who I made you to be. I'm going to keep telling you this until you remember it.

Me: There goes another piece.

Goddess : Yep. Let it be.

Me: So ... I'm not broken?

Goddess: Of course Not! - but you are breaking like the dawn. It's a new day. Become!!!

Thinking of the Crone

Good morning! I am awake early this morning and thinking about being a crone and the Divine Crone. When did this happen, that I have reached this age… and with so much to do still? Aging can be frightening, but more than that it is glorious. Personally, I have been able to let go of things that made me miserable but now I know were really not important. So I embrace my age and love this body and mind and soul - ah, there’s the one, my soul! I am aware of my inner self, my deep heart, my divine essence. I strongly feel and know them. That feels good and right so I better get busy with all those things I still have to do! First, some prayers, a candle and incense to light, my morning devotions, at this time of the year, honoring the Divine Crone.

Blessings dark and deep!

Calling the Crone

Midnight Mother, Queen of Dreams,

Who in the dark of the moon beseems

The Lady of Phantoms and the Dead,

Dispenser of visions of love and dread.

Mistress of magic and arts arcane,

Lady of Karma who justice ordains,

Come to me now! Come to my call!

Queen of Darkness and Spirits all.

Weaver of the celestial web

and author of fortunes flow and ebb,

Bless me with magical power bright,

grant me the knowledge of spiritual things

and power that spiritual knowledge brings.

To work my will and make manifest,

all the things that my heart loves the best.

Great Crone, Grandmother of All That Is,

Now bless me moreover in more than this.

Share the wisdom of Your sacred heart

as well as the skill of Your magical art,

That I may be mindful in all that I do

and be wise in magical workings too.

A Daily Prayer

Good Sunday morning and many blessings. I am struggling a bit with shingles - gotta love the Crone years. However, I am doing well for the most part, but this morning I am having a bit of a flare up.

To take my mind off it, I went browsing the internet and found a little prayer to the Universe. This inspired a daily short prayer to the Mother Goddesses. I am a firm believer in daily devotions, even just little ones. So I share it here.

Light a candle, perhaps a stick of incense, and recite three times.

A Daily Prayer

Oh Blessed Mothers I come to You,

With honor and love, blessings too.

Give me strength to face my day

Whatever it is that comes my way.

With love I open to what may be,

I light this flame’s power times three.

As Your loving blessings always assist me,

So I shall be the best I can be.

With honor and love, blessings too,

With strength from the Great Mothers,

It is made true.

Sweet Dreams

Now I lay me down to sleep,
Blessed Goddess, in Your keep.
Send sweet dreams the whole night through
And keep me faithful, good, and true.
And in the morn when I wake,
Gentle Goddess, feed me cake!

Barbara Ardinger

In addition to the little prayer, sprinkle a few drops of pure essential oil of lavender over your bed, then lay down and breathe in the  calming scent. Sweet dreams!

Blessings dark and deep!

Dark Moon in Scorpio

Moon Phase: Dark moon in Scorpio

What does it mean: a transformational time, major change, dramatic endings, magnificent beginnings.  It is a resurrection. Far better things are coming fast, trust. Purge and clear out the old to make way for the new.

The Scorpio moon is about rebirth, resetting, and starting anew. Cast off what no longer serves or resonates. Releasing bad habits, stale energy, beliefs that are no longer assisting us, people that bring us to a place of negative thoughts. Welcome new energies. Begin now to set your intentions for radiant good health on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.

Open yourself to these changes, there is nothing to fear. Magical workings for this time would be cleansings of whatever type you like - smudging, baths, physical detox on a gentle level; removing blockages, opening to change.

This doesn’t mean we have to be positive all the time. Feel your feelings, process, and release.

Affirmation for Scorpio Dark Moon: I embrace the beginnings that are coming to me. I have the power to shape my reality. I have the ability to manifest miracles.

Upcoming: Mercury Retrograde, November 16th thru December 6th, 2018. This will be a good time to look back on issues you are not sure about.

Blessing dark and deep!

The Pin Cushion As A Protection Charm

photo from: http://littlemoomoo.net/product/tomato-pin-cushion/

In the realm of the Kitchen Witch so many household items can be made into and used as charms. One such, with a history of use as a protection charm, is the tomato pin cushion.

In the 14th and 15th centuries, pins and needles were very expensive and kept in needle or pin cases made from a variety of materials including silver, pot metals, ivory, and bone. Pin pillows, pyn pillows, or pin poppets, were the precursor of the pin cushion and came along in about the 18th century. These were made from different fabrics from plain to elaborate and included embroidery from simple to extensive. These were, in time, mounted on a variety of stands becoming decorative pieces for the home. Eventually, these pincushions became almost a status symbol and woman were sure to have at least one, but usually more. Today, antique pincushions and needle cases are highly collectible.

Tomato pincushions came along due to a very sweet bit of folklore, in my opinion; in the Victorian age, when people moved into a new home, a tomato was placed on the mantel of the hearth. This was done to bring prosperity to the family and ward off evil spirits. Of course, tomatoes were not always available and they would rot, so people would create one of red fabric and embellish them with embroidery and other bits of fabric. Eventually they were used to hold pins and needles.

Today, many kitchen and stitching witches like to use this old folklore and create charms of protection. One can make the entire pincushion from scratch or buy one already made, available in any sewing or craft store. If making from scratch, one can stuff the cushion with a variety of items, herbs, bits of stones, ground wood from various trees, etc. When I buy one pre-made, I cleanse it very well and keep it for a full moon cycle before I begin enchanting it. Since I am not stuffing the actua cushion myself, I usually add a small bundle of protection herbs and other items including small stones and crystals, tie them up in a small square of black fabric with red yarn - or vice versa, whatever you are inspired to do. I also like to add pins arranged in symbols of protection or draw symbols and then place my pins. I also like to add various colored threads corresponding to intention and "attach" them by threading needles and placing in the pincushion, allowing the threads to float free.

Now where to place? Not everyone has a hearth. I live Toadstool Condo in South Florida, it didn't have a hearth, but... I purchased a ventless fireplace from Plow and Hearth some years ago and it is our hearth, so that's one place that the cushion rests on. If you don't have a hearth, your stove takes the place of it. I hang one over my stove too. A special narrow table set up to look like a hearth and blessed for this purpose would be another idea. I did this before I had my ventless fireplace and kept some of my collection of cauldrons around it and a variety of candles on it. A chiminea, small or large, with a candle or candles, is another option; there's nothing like a fireplace!

Blessings nine!
