A Healing Spell

Here is a beautiful chant I found for when working self-healing.

Gather:
3 candles, purple, green, and white, candle holders
A healing incense of your choice. Suggestions: Hem Divine Healing,  Satya Reiki, Frankincense, whatever you like.
Incense burner, matches or lighter,

At a time when you can have privacy and quiet, gather your supplies. Allow yourself to relax and do some breathing work that will relax you. I find the following technique very soothing and helpful even during anxiety: breathe in through the nose for a count of 6 to 8, hold for 4, breathe out through the nose for a count of 8 to 10. Hold for 4.  Repeat at least for or five times. Allow yourself, your body to release all tension, let go. Focus your thoughts on surrounding yourself with white, golden, or violet light.

Light all three candles along with the healing incense of your choice. Repeat this chant 9 times as your candles burn. Know that perfect healing in whatever way is needed is yours. Now recite the chant nine times. Allow the candles to burn out completely or extinguish and repeat for 3 days in a row. Be sure to drink some nettle tea or infusion after. While working the spell, listen to some Solfeggio frequency music to intensify the magick.

A bit about nettle tea: I learned about nettle tea from my friend Cynthia at Medicine Woods Botanicals, she also was the former owner of Moonmaid Botanicals, and has been an herbalist for well over 40 years. She taught me that nettles make a most healing, nourishing tonic and recommends it highly. You can buy her Nourishing NettleTea at her website www.medicinewoodsbotanicals.com.  I try to drink a quart throughout the day, several days a week. I also like her Mega Minerals Tea which is very nourishing and healing too.

To make the most nourishing infusion, take a quart jar or glass measuring cup, add 1/4 cup dried nettles, pour boiling water to fill the jar. Lightly cover and leave at least four hours or overnight to steep. I prepare mine before bed and leave overnight on the counter. In the morning I strain the infusion and drink through the day. I like the taste which is earthy and green, and drink it as is. You can sweeten with a bit of honey if you like. I also charge my infusion with Reiki, you can also say a blessing over it and charge in whatever manner you prefer.

Just for today be kind to every living being

I am not perfect by any means, but I strive every day to live the Reiki precepts, especially “Just for today be kind to every living being.” I am struggling a bit with this at the moment, but struggle is the key, I am working on it. There is so much hate out there lately, no compassion for  people who really are innocent, kind, and just trying to live their lives without placing themselves where they shouldn’t be, such as a young woman who went out to jog and enjoy her day, but never made it home. And perhaps too much compassion for people who, honestly, are coming from a place of hate and irresponsibility. Think about what you are doing and the consequences that may follow. Stop being hateful, it isn’t good for you or anyone else. And that is said with compassion, truly.
Just for today, be kind to every living being.

30 Days of Devotion - 24

Day 24 -A time when Hekate has helped me.

photograph copyright E A Kaufman 2016.

Where does one start with this? First of all, the times when Hekate assists me, with a few exceptions, are very private. However, I will share that during times of anxiety and fear, She is always there for me, helping me get through. The only time when this may not be the case, is when She is testing me or has decided to rearrange parts of me and let me put myself together. So fear is where Hekate has assisted me most.

Another area where Hekate has helped me is in my healing practice. I was and still am amazed that She always is with me during these works, and most especially during my Reiki healing work. This may seem too new agey to  many devotees, but She is always with me when I give Reiki. Hekate is most especially around with healing work for children and women, but She always answers my call for assistance in this important area of my practice.

Healing

I jotted this down one day, before I was going to facilitate a Reiki circle in the evening. I shared it with everyone who attended and it seems to be appropriate to share it today. Whoever needs it will find it.

When we are experiencing periods of self-doubt, insecurity, pain, fear, anxiety, depression - whatever challenge it may be - it would serve us to remember that we are releasing aspects of ourselves that were created based on what we have been exposed to in our lives, yet no longer need. All of these feelings are keys to a process of transformation. We can stay in the same place or move through the feelings, acknowledging them, releasing, forgiving, be it ourselves or someone else, then moving on, free. This is healing.

Underneath these experiences of transformation, which can be frightening and difficult sometimes, and at other times easier to work through, we benefit by remembering self-love and self-awareness is where to find relief and a more clear reflection of who we really are. When we see who we truly are through love, the pristine essence that we will find is the Wise One or Higher Self, the one who, while knowing fear, defeat, or suffering, is the one who is Light, Power, Force, and Liberation. Finding that Wise One and allowing ourselves to move through the experiences as part of a learning process, sets us free.

Don't become too caught up in the journey to "arrive" - remember that all these experiences benefit us in some way by moving us along our path. We may not consciously know exactly what that benefit is, but we have evolved thanks to those experiences. Would we have liked to skip some of them? All of them? Sure, they aren't always pretty or nice, they are frightening. But that's what we are here for, to experience and heal. This process is for our progression - if we allow it to be.

Winston Churchill said it best, " When you are going through hell, keep on going." In other words, keep going, you will get to the end and make it through.

Secrecy, Sacredness, and Oaths

I had an interesting experience the other day. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher of both Traditional Usui and Karuna Reiki. I began my journey with Reiki about 10 years ago; it is a daily practice and permeates every part of my life, every day. I don't know where I would be had I not discovered it.

There are a number of things about Reiki that can vary from tradition to tradition, but one of the most important is that the Reiki symbols are sacred and therefore to be kept secret. When I received the first three symbols, I understood that I took an oath to keep them secret. There is no reason to plaster the symbols everywhere, wear them on jewelry, or put them out for all to see because without the attunements, they do nothing. Now, I have been a practicing witch for over forty years,  and I take oaths very seriously, in any tradition, spiritual path, and in one's personal life, so this keeping these sacred symbols secret is a serious matter .

So, I met someone who did her Reiki training with Diane Stein. Being heavily influenced by Dianic Feminist witchcraft, Diane is considered to be one of the grandmothers of the Dianic Feminist tradition. My problem with Stein, and why I don't recommend many of her books, is because she published a book with the symbols. Her "followers" feel, as did this woman I encountered, that the symbols are sacred, but not to be kept secret, they are for everyone. This woman's attitude about Dr. Usui was rather sneering and I had to ask her how she could feel that way and practice Reiki. There were a few other things; she attunes people for free, which is certainly her choice and I have no real issue with this. I personally think that the fees many charge for Reiki training are too high. I later spoke to someone who was attuned by this woman and was told that she and her partner received no training whatsoever, they were just told to read Stein's book to page 26. They knew nothing and felt the attunements were rather worthless. They plan to study with what they refer to as a real teacher.

Now, anyone can do whatever they choose, each of us has our own path to tread. That being said, we all need to be aware that there are teachers and there are people who call themselves teachers. If you receive Reiki attunements but no instructions you loose a very important part of Reiki. If you feel that the majority of the Reiki community and the tradition is wrong when they agree that the symbols are to be kept secret, I would hesitate to teach you any form metaphysics or occult tradition. I would question your integrity and sincerity in keeping any oaths.

I realize there are people who will disagree with this and you are certainly free to do so, but keeping oaths and secrets, in occult and metaphysical traditions is a serious matter. These mysteries are not for everyone.
