Feast of OurMother of Perpetual Help

Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

June 27th marks the Catholic feast day of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Mother Mary, revered by many Christians as the Mother of Jesus Christ, is seen by feminist goddess devotees as an incarnation of the Great Mother and a goddess in Her own right.

As a child, growing up surrounded by my Catholic family, attending Catholic School, Mother Mary was very much a part of my life. Despite attempts to cut Catholicism from my life, it has maintained a background presence.

My spiritual practice these days is feminist oriented, heavily influenced by Paganism, my Jewish husband and my own conversion to Judaism, and the absolute wisdom that eclectic spiritual practice works best for me. There are many paths that ultimately lead to that place of peace, love, and wisdom. Each of us finds our own way.

So a reminder shows up on my calendar each year on this day, the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. I light a candle, some rose incense, and make an invocation, adding prayers for assistance with whatever life is throwing my way, but most importantly, as a votary offering and acknowledgment that I remember Her, in all Her presences.

“Oh Mother of Perpetual Help, I invoke Your most powerful and beloved name, in remembrance of Your guiding hand and the assistance You unconditionally offer. Accept this candle and the lovely scent of Your roses as my offering of thanks and honor. You are always in my heart. Amen.”

May the Great Mother’s blessings be ever upon us all.

Blessings dark and light!

Weekend Oracle

Mountain Lights: Light Beings, portals, subtle energies

I always see Friday as the portal to the weekend, so appropriate.

We are chosen to to do the work of assisting in healing our beautiful Earth, and sending energies to heal all. What a beautiful mission!

Hold loving light energy within the heart and radiate it out… to Mama Earth, to the mountains and valleys, lakes and oceans, forests and gardens, roads and streets, and to all people, all beings. Let us be part of the collective to heal any hate, to bring love into all things and everywhere.

As I light my Shabbat candles tonight and every Friday, that is my focus, shining light into all. Light candles tonight, no matter our paths, and shine that light of healing and love into the world.

May it be so!

Monday Moonday Oracle

9. Freya, Sensuality

Freya is the Norse goddess of love, fertility, and magick. A kind goddess who reflects the full cycle of life and death. In my experience She is also a take no crap goddess who unapologetically does what needs to be done.

I feel this oracle is very timely. There is so much body shaming that has made a real comeback on line. There are many women promoting starvation diets, celebrities who are clearly severely underweight are being hailed as perfect and healthy, and what we should aspire to. Yesterday, someone I know posted a horribly nasty meme about an obese woman with many degrading comments and laughing emojis.  I was very surprised that she did this, but saw someone repeatedly calling her out. So…

We are guided to get in touch with our bodies, know its needs, its limits, appreciate its beauty and uniqueness, care for it. Our bodies are our personal temples, be they large or small, smooth or wrinkly, they are perfect in their imperfectness, and deserving of love.

Our feminine sensuality is a divine gift and sacred right. We deserve nurturing and care. And we need to be strong when anyone decides they want to shame us for that sensuality, for our appearance, for our boundaries. We are sovereign.

Freya reminds us we have the strength to accomplish, achieve, and persevere in any situation. We must know this in our innermost being. We embrace our magickal abilities to bring our needs and desires into reality; we acknowledge what brings us satisfaction and follow our heart’s desires. We live every moment to the fullest, in our own power, and let no one take that power from us. We stand strong, beautiful, resilient. It is time to remember that our bodies, however they are, are the sacred vessels of our essence, perfect as they are. Our bodies, love them, care for them to the best of our abilities, rejoice in them. We make it so!

Blessings dark and light.

Weekend Oracle

12: The Secret of Camelot, the authority of spirit

We will be encountering some mundane authority figure for discussion or conversation of some importance. While this person or perhaps even persons hold the power in this physical world, we are the mystics and our spiritual perspective will be highly influential for the outcome of this encounter.

We are guided to trust our intuition, our spiritual gifts. While that mundane power is recognized by the physical world, the pure spirit within us comes with us into this situation. Our priestess self is most needed at this time so we can guide or influence any outcome.

Whatever realms we move through, our gifts have purpose, our work has meaning, our words and presence have meaning that will be felt. And so it is.

Blessings dark and light!

Monday Moonday Oracle

39 Priestess of the Gift to Serve

We are advised to stand in our priestess energy. The need our gifts is strong this week. It may be people, or perhaps the earth Herself. Whatever it is, listen to know. However, while trusting in our intuition to wisely guide us, let us not be fooled by illusions. We will know who or what is deserving of our time and energy. From the giving comes the flow of joy and ease allowing us to live with purpose and passion, live as we desire and deserve. Through this powerful blessing of giving, we open ourselves fully to receive.  Let it begin, let it be so.

Monday Moonday Oracle

 16: Ixchel, Fertility and Healing

Ixchel, Mayan goddess of the moon, she is the goddess of Sacred Light, the Lady of Rainbows, and giver of water and rain. A powerful healer, Patroness of Midwives, She watches over pregnant women.

We are guided to strongly connect with our feminine energy and inner healer. Whatever healing path we follow, Reiki, hands on healing, chakra work, sound healing, plant medicine, now is the time to work that energy. Focusing on ourselves is the message, and sending a bit to others shows our open hearts. We utilize whatever our intuition tells us. The Full Moon’s energy is powerfully amplifying our work.

Bring our dreams into being, birth creative endeavors, heal emotions - especially those related to sexual trauma, fertility issues, miscarriage, and abortion. Dream work will also assist us. We know our power and Ixchel’s hands shine Her light and essence, opening the way.

Questions to ask ourselves, consider them before sleep and meditation:

What is fertile in our lives? What should we focus our attention on for healing? What are we open to receiving? What is our next step? Let us consider these. Now we make it so.

Blessing dark and light!
