A Soothing Tea Spell

 A Soothing Tea Spell

Brew yourself a cup of Constant Comment Tea - decaf or regular, or Bigelow Sweet Dreams tea… or whatever you like that relaxes you. Light a pink or lavender colored candle which you have charged to bring gentle, stress relieving energy.
Add a bit of honey for sweetness and cream, if you like, then stir deosil and chant three times:

By Earth and Air, Fire and Tea,
As I sip, stress and anxiety flee.
As I imbue this healing brew
My mind and heart are comforted too.
Relax, release, restore me please,
By leaf and water I am given ease.
By the Great Mother, it is made so.
And so it is, the magick flows!

A Healing Spell

Here is a beautiful chant I found for when working self-healing.

Gather:
3 candles, purple, green, and white, candle holders
A healing incense of your choice. Suggestions: Hem Divine Healing,  Satya Reiki, Frankincense, whatever you like.
Incense burner, matches or lighter,

At a time when you can have privacy and quiet, gather your supplies. Allow yourself to relax and do some breathing work that will relax you. I find the following technique very soothing and helpful even during anxiety: breathe in through the nose for a count of 6 to 8, hold for 4, breathe out through the nose for a count of 8 to 10. Hold for 4.  Repeat at least for or five times. Allow yourself, your body to release all tension, let go. Focus your thoughts on surrounding yourself with white, golden, or violet light.

Light all three candles along with the healing incense of your choice. Repeat this chant 9 times as your candles burn. Know that perfect healing in whatever way is needed is yours. Now recite the chant nine times. Allow the candles to burn out completely or extinguish and repeat for 3 days in a row. Be sure to drink some nettle tea or infusion after. While working the spell, listen to some Solfeggio frequency music to intensify the magick.

A bit about nettle tea: I learned about nettle tea from my friend Cynthia at Medicine Woods Botanicals, she also was the former owner of Moonmaid Botanicals, and has been an herbalist for well over 40 years. She taught me that nettles make a most healing, nourishing tonic and recommends it highly. You can buy her Nourishing NettleTea at her website www.medicinewoodsbotanicals.com.  I try to drink a quart throughout the day, several days a week. I also like her Mega Minerals Tea which is very nourishing and healing too.

To make the most nourishing infusion, take a quart jar or glass measuring cup, add 1/4 cup dried nettles, pour boiling water to fill the jar. Lightly cover and leave at least four hours or overnight to steep. I prepare mine before bed and leave overnight on the counter. In the morning I strain the infusion and drink through the day. I like the taste which is earthy and green, and drink it as is. You can sweeten with a bit of honey if you like. I also charge my infusion with Reiki, you can also say a blessing over it and charge in whatever manner you prefer.

Dressing a Candle

Some tips for dressing your candles:

- easy with oil, you don’t need a lot. If you overdo it, you’ll have a candle that goes up like a torch. I tell you this from experience, lol!
- same with the herbs - easy does it or you are going to have a torch and it could be a problem.
- maintain focus on what you’re doing, intention adds to the success of you candle spell. It’s all about what you put it in.
- use different colors of wax to kick up the energy. Red adds energy and it is always a good choice.

A Candle Spell

I found this chant on Pinterest and thought it would go well with a Crystal Journey Positive Energy candle and a protection candle burning at the same time. A very good combination.

Blessings dar and light.

Acknowledge & Release Spell

I found this spell on Facebook, it doesn’t give anything but a chant. I like the chant and thought, yes, this could be very helpful for releasing. So I added a black candle, because a black candle is always a good addition in this type of work.

I focused on what needed releasing, really thought about it and spent some time with it. Then I lit my candle and chanted this three times.

Perhaps you have something that needs releasing in order to heal yourself? Join me.

Winter Magick Day 28

A Charm For Prosperity

Needed:
A green candle
Olive oil you have blessed
A pinch each of basil, dill
Incense for cleansing
Matches or lighter

With the incense, cleanse your working area and candle. Hold the candle and charge for purpose - drawing prosperity. Anoint the candle with some olive oil.
Lay the herbs in front of you and awaken them. Roll the candle in the herbs then place in a candle holder.
Take some deep breaths and focus your mind on prosperity flowing to you continuously. Light the flame and chant the following three times:

With this bright light
My flame takes flight
Drawing to me
Unending prosperity!

Let the candle burn until finished.

Winter Magick Day 21

Winter Solstice Blessings, Happy Yule,
May all you desires and dreams come into being!

Last night my husband and I, along with the seventh night of Hanukkah, celebrated Mothers Night, the first night of Yule. We each took thirteen slips of paper and wrote our Solstice wishes, one on each slip, folded them up and place them in a bowl with our initials. Each wish is written as if it already is. We then lit a red candle for all the Mothers of Blood and Breed, as well as a positive energy candle. We then each chose a slip from our bowls, without looking at it, and lit it on fire in the cauldron. We will continue this for twelve nights. On the thirteenth night we will not burn the slip of paper, but read it and keep it, as it will be our task to bring it into being. I have seen various versions of this around the internet, thirteen or twelve  nights, but thirteen seemed right to me. So… there we are. May all our wishes, and yours too, come to be!

Blessings dark and deep!

Preparing for the Winter Solstice

My goddess shrine is decorated for the Winter Solstice, photos to come in a day or so. In the meantime, other preparations. Tonight I will facilitate my Divine Feminine Meditation and Discussion group. We will discuss winter goddesses, participate in a guided journey/meditation, and then prepare our bayberry candles for the longest night.

The bayberry candle spell is something I have been doing (and have written about) for many years. The burning of these candles brings prosperity, good health, and a good life. Sometimes I burn the candles over nine nights, other years I have only done this for three nights.

I also scatter a blend of herbs around my candle. The candle is burned in a votive cup holder, because one year I placed three candles in a terra cotta dish, anointed them with bayberry oil, and scattered the herbs in the dish with the candles. I lit all three and a while later I had a freaking torch - no kidding, the herbs, oil, and candle wax ignited and sent up a three foot flame. We used a large lid from one of my pots to snuff it out. I received a lecture from my darling hubby about fire safety. He was very stern because not long before this I had set a very tiny portion of our carpet on fire when a candle fell over. It was a very small burn and was immediately extinguished. What can I say - Leo Sun, Leo Moon, it is beyond my control. And actually, I haven't had any fire mishaps in years... well, except for that candle spell I was doing for a friend earlier this year; it sort of exploded, but... no harm, no fire; it flared up and then went out. That was a good omen. ; )

I have real bayberry wax candles for my ritual, nine of them this year. I got them at Cape Candle, you can take a look here. For the gals in my Div. Fem. group, they will choose a Crystal Journey bayberry or a bayberry/Dragon's Blood votive. I think the combination of bayberry and Dragon's Blood, while not traditional, is a fabulous combination; definitely kicking up the magick! We will cleanse, consecrate, and then empower the candles so they will be ready to burn on the Solstice.

Most of the gals in the core group, those who always attend, have become close friends, some are apprentices. They are all very dear to my heart and I feel very lucky to have met them. The goddesses certainly blessed me.

Do you follow the old tradition of burning a bayberry candle on the Winter Solstice?

Hallows Everyday 27

Samhain Broom Blessing

Hand to hand, blood to blood, bone to bone,
We gather around this sacred home.
One by one we link our brooms
As we circle during the Waning Moon.
Besom, Besom, blessed be with protection and prosperity.
On Samhain Night we sweep away
the old and bring in the New Year.
A Witch's tool for circle and home,
hang upright at your door.
This spell will keep your threshold safe
as long as it hangs in its place.
And so we will it, so mote it be.

copyright 2002 Betty Banos Prat

Tonight I took one of my apprentices to a ritual with very experienced witches, and we honored the Ancestors for Samhain. This was a group of witches I have known for many years, all experienced, and some brought family members so it was a rather informal, but moving rite. This is not how I generally work my rites, but it seemed perfect for this evening. We created a beautiful ancestor altar, honored and made offerings to those now passed on, and made a little magick.

My friend, and facilitator of this ritual, Betty, created the Samhain Broom Blessing rite some years ago; she gave her consent to share it here. We each brought a new cinnamon broom along with the old one that had been blessed last year. The old brooms were burned in a fire and the new ones blessed with the above prayer. These new brooms, like the old ones last year, will hang near or on our doors to bring prosperity and protection in the coming year.

I had a lovely night and am off into the arms of Morpheus as I have a ritual of my own to finish tomorrow for the coming week's Hallows Rites with apprentices and witch friends.

Blessings nine!

Do Not Piss Off The Witches

In Romania, some witches are not happy due to a new law which requires them to pay taxes on the little they make for their magical work. Their response? They are planning to curse the government. It was not long ago that a woman could be jailed for being a witch in that country. At least one witch is glad because it means her practice is accepted and she can openly have a shop offering her services. Read the article here:
