May the circle be unbroken 

Through the season of rebirth.

May Her love join us together, 

All the children of the earth.

And the Lady in the winter 

Wears a robe of silver white

And She warms us with Her fire

With Her spirit and Her light.

Prayer to Hekate for the Dead

Hail Hekate, Mighty Eternal Queen,

Divine Mediator,

She who walks between the worlds,  

Torch-bearer who shines Her light

Upon our path.

Hear me now,

Mistress of Death,

Welcome this departed soul.

I call upon You,

Great Light,

Embrace this soul as they pass through

The gates of death.

Guide my beloved safely

To the other side, 

Offer them comfort,

As they cross the threshold

From this life to the next.

Be with us now in our time of grief.

May we know the peace of eternity.

Let the light of their memory burn bright,

Give us the faith to know that all

That dies shall be reborn.

Prayer and Offering for the Dead One of the most poignant and powerful things you can ever do is offer a prayer for the dead. This can be done at any time during the year. Between Hallows and the Winter Solstice is an especially powerful time for these offerings as well as the time of year when your loved one passed. What you need:  1 White votive candle.  Offering of your choice Picture of your loved one What you do: Light a white votive candle. Lay your offering on your ancestral altar, or next to a picture of your special loved one.  Hold your hands together in the prayer position. Say: From the dawn of your birth To the sunset of your death I honor you. From the mission you completed To your duties left undone I honor you From the seasons of your being Through the cycle of your life I honor you From your time beyond the veil Till your earth entrance back again May the Spirits support you May the Goddess surround you May my healing love reach you From this moment until the end of time. Holy Lady, Mother of Trees,

Bestow Your abundant blessings 

Upon this, our Solstice tree.

May its evergreen branches be a sign

Of Your never fading love and wisdom.

May it’s colorful lights and ornaments 

Decorate our home and our world 

With love and peace.

May the gifts that surround this tree

Be symbols of the gifts we have received

From the beautiful Earth Herself.

Blessed Winter Solstice tree within our home 

May joy and peace, wisdom and abundance,

Compassion and love, come and nest

In your branches and in our hearts.

An Oath to Mother Earth

 Despite having Sun and moon fire signs, I am so deeply of the Earth. The feel of soil in my hands or beneath my feet is comforting. All plant life, animals, stones, rivers, lakes, the seas, I find beauty and connection to all. Mountains call me, plants talk to me as does the land itself. And… I do what I am able to help this world.

So… I saw a prayer today that started out With a Wiccan heart and a witch’s might. I am not Wiccan so it wasn’t right for me, but the prayer was to honor and protect Mother Earth, an oath. It inspired the following which made my heart and soul feel so good. I share it here with you.

Oath to Mother Earth

With a Witch’s heart

And a Witch’s might,

I swear an oath 

Of magick bright,

To honor and protect

Our Mother Earth.

To believe in Her magick

With all my worth.

To love and protect

Her children of all kinds,

To Plants, animals, 

To Her’s I am entwined.

From air, fire, water, earth,

I bind myself to all She births.

For I am Her’s and She is mine,

This oath i make,

In blood I sign.
